To get to the trailhead from the Aspen roundabout, travel 9.75 miles on Castle Creek Road (CR 15) to a small sign for a “trailhead” on the right. Turn right into the parking area.

This is a trail of 2 halves. The first half is tough switchbacks up through Aspen trees. The second half levels off and gets much easier through the shady forest to the lake. Great variety of scenery.
