Capitol Creek Road (CR 9/FSR #316) is an intermediate/moderate road you can run, road bike and mountain bike. The first 5 miles past the 3 way intersection with Snowmass Creek Road are paved. The next 3 miles to Capitol Creek Trail are dirt and a fairly steep and steady uphill climb.

Capitol Creek Road (CR 9/FSR #316) is an intermediate/moderate road you can snowshoe, classic cross-country ski, and fat bike that is dog friendly. The first 5 miles of road from the 3 way intersection with Snowmass Creek Road are paved and plowed. From Hay Park Trail parking area the road is 1.8 miles to the Capitol Creek Trail. Past the cattle guard the road is unmaintained (0.75 miles to the Capitol Creek Trailhead). This is not a groomed nordic trail.
