Cherry Creek Trail #2256 is an intermediate/moderate trail you can hike, run, mountain bike, and horseback ride that is dog friendly. This is a 5 mile dirt trail near New Castle, CO.
To get to the trailhead from New Castle, take 7th Street/Midland Avenue and follow it left to Buford Road (CR 245). In 4 miles turn right onto Buford-New Castle Road (FSR #245). In 4.25 miles, you’ll pass a cattle guard on road (parking for the Mansfield Ditch Trail is on the right). Continue up the road for another mile past the cattle guard, the trailhead is on the right.

Cherry Creek Trail is frequently used by hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers. Hikers and bikers are asked to yield when horseback riders are present. To avoid spooking a horse, make sure the rider acknowledges you. It is advised that mountain bikers step off and walk their bike safely around the horses. Cattle are often on or visible from the Cherry Creek Trail. livestock owners have grazing permits administered by the Rifle Ranger District. Please respect wildlife and other users.
